Privacy Policy

ScalebyPin (“we”, “us”) helps Etsy sellers promote their own listings on Pinterest. This policy explains what data we collect when you use scalebypin.com and our service, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the service:
- Account and contact information. Your email address and name when you sign in (with Google or with a one-time code sent to your email), and any messages you send us. We use your email to send you your pins and service emails and, with an unsubscribe link in every such email, to tell you about ScalebyPin.
- Etsy shop and listing data. Only from the Etsy shop that you connect, and only with read-only access you grant through Etsy’s sign-in (OAuth). This includes your shop name and identifier, and the titles, descriptions, prices, photos, tags and links of your listings, plus the access tokens Etsy issues. See section 5.
- Photos and product details you upload. Product photos, names, descriptions and links you add yourself after signing in, for example for your free pin. A link is stored only as the address your pin will point to: we never open it or download content from it, including Etsy pages.
- Pinterest account data. When you connect Pinterest, we receive access tokens, your account identifier and your boards. Analytics for the pins published through ScalebyPin are read from Pinterest when we need them and are not stored (see section 4).
- Billing data. Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and merchant of record, which also handles sales tax and VAT. We receive the status of your subscription and payments, but never your card details.
- Technical and usage data. IP address, browser and device type, pages visited and similar logs. We use them to keep the service secure, to understand how it is used, and to prevent abuse of the free pin (one per account).
2. How we use your information
- To provide, operate, maintain and improve ScalebyPin.
- To read the listings you choose from the Etsy shop you connected.
- To create drafts of Pinterest pins (images, titles, descriptions and keywords) for your review.
- To publish and schedule to your Pinterest boards only the pins you have approved, each linking back to its listing.
- To show you how your pins perform (views, saves and clicks from Pinterest).
- To process subscriptions and send receipts and service emails.
- To answer your questions and provide support.
- To prevent abuse and fraud, limit free previews, and keep the service secure.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. AI processing
To create pin drafts, we send your product titles, descriptions and photos to AI service providers that work on our behalf: Anthropic (Claude API, text) and Google (paid Gemini API, images). They process this data only to return the result to us; under their API terms for business customers they do not use it to train or improve their models.
We do not use your data — and never use Etsy data — to train or fine-tune any AI or machine-learning model.
4. Pinterest
- We request only the Pinterest permissions needed to list your boards, publish the pins you approve and read their analytics.
- Nothing is published to your Pinterest account without your approval.
- We keep encrypted connection credentials, Pinterest account identifiers and username, saved board identifiers and names, and IDs of pins published through ScalebyPin. We use these to connect your account, show destinations, publish approved pins and look up their results. Older board records may also include a board description. Organic analytics are requested live. We use Pinterest Trends to suggest timely board ideas and may save the associated search phrase and trend indicators.
- Information from your account is used only to provide ScalebyPin to you. We never combine it with other people’s accounts and never use Pinterest data to train or improve any AI or machine-learning model.
- What we keep is our own: the pins and search phrases we wrote for you, which pin uses which phrase, and the choices you make in ScalebyPin.
- We send Pinterest Trends keywords and indicators to Anthropic to suggest board ideas. For an existing board, we send the style examples you upload to Anthropic and save the editable description they generate. Older style drafts may have been created from pins previously read from the connected board.
- You can disconnect Pinterest at any time in ScalebyPin or in your Pinterest settings.
5. Etsy
ScalebyPin uses the Etsy API to read listings from the shop you connect. When you connect Etsy:
- We access only the shop you connected yourself, never other sellers’ shops.
- Access is read-only (shop and listing data). We never create, change or delete anything in your Etsy shop.
- We use your listing data only to create pin drafts that you review and approve before publishing, and to link each pin back to its listing on Etsy.
- We never sell, rent or share Etsy data with third parties, except the service providers in section 6 that help us run ScalebyPin.
- We never use Etsy data to train AI or machine-learning models.
- You can disconnect your shop at any time in ScalebyPin or in your Etsy account settings. We then delete your Etsy data as described in section 8.
The term “Etsy” is a trademark of Etsy, Inc. This application uses the Etsy API but is not endorsed or certified by Etsy, Inc.
6. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only:
- With service providers that process it on our behalf: Vercel (hosting and privacy-friendly analytics), Lemon Squeezy (payments, as merchant of record), Resend (email), Google (sign-in) and the AI providers in section 3. They may use it only to provide their services to us.
- With Pinterest, when we publish the pins you approved to your account.
- For legal reasons, when required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of the business, subject to this policy.
7. Cookies
We use cookies that are needed to keep you signed in and to remember your choices. Our analytics do not use cookies to track you across other websites. You can block cookies in your browser, but signing in will not work without them.
8. Security and retention
We protect your data with industry-standard measures. Access tokens for Etsy and Pinterest are encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Etsy data is deleted within 30 days after you disconnect your shop or delete your account.
- When you disconnect in Settings, we remove the Pinterest connection, saved board details, published pin IDs and style drafts tied to existing Pinterest boards. If you revoke access in Pinterest, you can also disconnect in Settings or contact us to request cleanup.
- Deleting your account in Settings requires a code sent to your account email and cancellation of any subscription. We delete your account records and its saved uploads and generated images. Pins already published remain on Pinterest.
- Other data is kept only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate data;
- delete your data or your account;
- withdraw consent, unsubscribe from emails, or disconnect Etsy and Pinterest at any time.
To exercise these rights, write to scalebypin@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days.
10. Children
ScalebyPin is a service for businesses and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page, update the date above, and notify you by email of material changes.
